Wild win for the Rangers

It took four overtimes, but the Methuen girls basketball team (finally) topped Tewksbury, 76-74. The Rangers improved to 4-4 thanks to the extraordinary effort.

"We'd gone ahead several times during regulation and they just kept coming back," coach Karen McLaughlin said. "It came right down to the wire. Each overtime, they went up, and then we would come back. It was just crazy, like survival of the fittest."

Central Catholic topped Tewksbury 77-65, but the story of the night was the exceptional play of Gia O'Connor. O'Connor scored a game-high 31 points to go along with nine rebounds, six steals and four assists. Kendall Desrosiers registered a double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds, and Ashley Evangelista had 14 points, five assists and three steals.
