It took four overtimes, but the Methuen girls basketball team (finally) topped Tewksbury, 76-74. The Rangers improved to 4-4 thanks to the extraordinary effort.
"We'd gone ahead several times during regulation and they just kept coming back," coach Karen McLaughlin said. "It came right down to the wire. Each overtime, they went up, and then we would come back. It was just crazy, like survival of the fittest."
Junior Rashidat Agboola led the Rangers with a career-high 30 points and 18 rebounds. Katelyn Ortiz hit one of three Methuen 3-pointers in a 14-point performance, and Ashley LeBlanc pulled down 11 boards in addition to scoring 14 points.
