PLAISTOW — Timberlane football finished its season on a high note Friday, as Farai Zhou rushed for 153 yards on 22 carries with two touchdowns to help the Owls beat Alvirne 21-7 at home.

Zhou's first touchdown came in the first quarter on a 30-yard rush, and he followed that up later with a 15-yard score in the third quarter. Dan Hayes scored the intervening touchdown in the second on a 1-yard run, and Connor Ross was a perfect 3 for 3 on extra point kicks.

MERRIMACK — Timberlane played a strong defensive game but could never get untracked in a 14-0 loss to Merrimack.

The Owls (2-6) were led by Kyle Gleason, who was a force at inside linebacker.

PLAISTOW — Farai Zhou (17 carries, 175 yards, 2 TDs) and Justin Berube (2 TDs) led Timberlane to a 42-6 thumping of winless Keene.

The Owls, now 2-4, scored twice in the first and second quarters and made it 35-0 on a Zhou run in the third. Cody Fleming (21 run) and Brandon Berube, Justin's twin, hauled in a 7-yard scoring pass from Dan Hayes.

NASHUA — Timberlane struggled on defense, falling to Nashua South 48-20.

Farai Shou led the Owls with 54 rushing yards and a touchdown. Justin Berube ran for a score of his own,  rushed for 30 yards and caught a 51-yard pass from Dan Hayes.

NASHUA — Timberlane got into the win column, pounding Bishop Guertin 35-14.

Farai Zhou ran wild (27-173, 2 TDs) and Dan Hayes added two TD runs and a 37-yard scoring connection with Andrew Wilson.

PLAISTOW — Londonderry football rushed for a combined 211 yards to race past Timberlane 27-7 on Friday night, with the defense holding the Owls scoreless until the fourth quarter.

Jeff Wiedenfeld led the way with 99 yards rushing and a touchdown on 25 carries. He got the scoring started with a 4-yard run in the first quarter, giving the Lancers a 7-0 lead that held going into halftime.

PLAISTOW — It was bad enough for star Timberlane running back Jacob Post that he had to watch from the sidelines Friday night, just days after learning that he was lost for the season with a torn ACL. “It’s just killing me not being out there,” said Post. “I really want to be playing.” Almost as painful for Post, however, was watching the Owls get dismantled by Nashua North, falling behind 27-0 in the first half before dropping the season opener, 48-24. It seemed like Timberlane was in shock in the first half, as if dazed by the absence of their senior standout as they were outgained 251-17 and outplayed in every phase of the game. But, the poor start had nothing to do with the absence of Post, according to Timberlane coach Kevin Fitzgerald. “We practiced all week (without Post) and were ready, but we just had too many mistakes and missed assignments.” Nashua North scored four of the first five times it had the ball, paced by the running of RJ Jenkins, who gained 221 yards on just 15 carries, many of them around the left side, and the passing combination of Mike Loveless to Austin Ouellette. Ouellette benefited from a couple of missed assignments and finished the night with four catches for 143 yards and three touchdowns, two of the scores going for 38 and 54 yards. Offensively, Timberlane was hurt by sub-par line play, particularly in the first half. That resulted in five sacks of quarterback Dan Hayes, who was sacked six times overall and finished with minus 43 yards. Trailing 27-0 at halftime, the Owls showed some energy in the third quarter, driving right down the field for their first of three touchdowns, a one-yard sneak by Hayes. Sophomore Matt Licata ran hard in the second half and Brendan Frezza was effective throughout the evening, catching five passes for 72 yards. Justin Berube had a pair of catches, including one for a touchdown, and was also effective on defense as was brother Brandon Berube and Kyle Gleason. The fourth quarter belonged to the reserves, one of whom was Post’s younger brother, sophomore Ben Post. Cole Jean scored on a 3-yard run for Timberlane’s final touchdown.
