Zhou leads Owls past Alvirne

PLAISTOW — Timberlane football finished its season on a high note Friday, as Farai Zhou rushed for 153 yards on 22 carries with two touchdowns to help the Owls beat Alvirne 21-7 at home.

Zhou's first touchdown came in the first quarter on a 30-yard rush, and he followed that up later with a 15-yard score in the third quarter. Dan Hayes scored the intervening touchdown in the second on a 1-yard run, and Connor Ross was a perfect 3 for 3 on extra point kicks.

Lancers pull away

 

LONDONDERRY — Ahead by just a point at halftime, 7-6, Londonderry pulled away in the second half Friday night, defeating Alvirne 36-6.

The one-two punch of Jeff Wiedenfield and Michael McAlister eventually proved too much for Alvirne to handle. Wiedenfield rushed for 184 yards and two touchdowns while McAlister finished with 124 yards and two TDs. Londonderry finished with 422 yards on the ground.

Unbeaten Blue Devils rough up Alvirne

SALEM —  On the second play from scrimmage, Dom Paci bolted 63 yards to paydirt and Salem cruised from there to a dominating 42-0 win over Alvirne.

The Blue Devils (5-0), who are the No. 1 team in the Union Leader-WMUR statewide poll, wouldn't be denied.

Pinkerton dominates season-opener

HUDSON, N.H. — With the memories of a rough 2016 season still fresh, Pinkerton football was determined to kick off 2017 on a very different note.

“We wanted go out there, play as hard as we could, and show everyone we aren’t the team we were last year,” said senior running back Ty Hicks, whose squad finished 4-5 and missed the playoffs last fall. “We have a good team. We know we are better than last year, and that’s what we wanted to show.”
