Gloucester thumps Revere, stays unbeaten

GLOUCESTER | It wasn't exactly the ideal weather forecast, but the Gloucester football team was happy to be back at home in Newell Stadium last night for the first time in 35 days.

Coming off four consecutive road games, the Fishermen were able to defend their home field and knock off Revere, 41-6, on a very rainy and uncharacteristically muggy late October evening. With the victory, Gloucester remained unbeaten at 7-0 (2-0 NEC Large), while the Patriots fell to 3-4 (0-2 NEC Large).

Van Alstyne's pick seals win for Salem football team

SALEM -- Melikke Van Alstyne wasn't at 100 percent, but that didn't stop Salem High's football star from saving the game for his Witches. The 6-0, 175 pound junior made a leaping interception at his own 10-yard line with 56 seconds remaining to stop Revere's last-ditch effort as the Witches dropped the Patriots, 14-12, last night at Bertram Field.

Special teams play gives Marblehead dramatic win over Revere

In one of the most dramatic games of the season, Marblehead's Evan Comeau blocked a Revere punt in the fourth quarter and teammate Jamie Wade returned it 35 yards for the winning touchdown as the Magicians edged vastly-improved Revere, 13-12.

DANVERS | History was just seconds away from taking place at Dr. Charles Deering Stadium yesterday afternoon.

But an improvisational run by Steven Ennamorati ensured that it wouldn't happen.

Ennamorati, the quarterback for Revere High, ran it in from 20 yards out on fourth down with 30 seconds to play, giving his Patriots a 6-0 victory over host Danvers.
