Durkin pulled out the victory 7-5, 2-6, 7-6, 8-6 to lead the No. 6 seed Manchester Essex to a 3-2 match win over third-seeded Pentucket.

Pentucket's Jack Donahue battled off four match points in the second set, evened his third singles match in a tiebreaker and won the first four games of the deciding set. But North Reading's Chris Harrow stormed back to take the next six games, winning the match and giving the Hornets an emotional 3-2 victory.
