Georgetown finally breaks through

GEORGETOWN — Sophomore Mark Mansfield scored on two runs and a pass to lift Georgetown to a dominating 35-0 win over West Roxbury.
It was the Royals' (1-9) first win of the season while Westie fell to 4-6. It was also the first victory for rookie head coach  Eric McCarthy.
"I'm just excited for the kids. They've been working really hard this year," he said. "They've put in the work. They've been fighting. They deserved it. It's a step in the right direction."
Jimmy Sherman had two TD runs, a TD pass, three PATs and a 2-point rush.
Defensive end Nick Calvani had two sacks and Dan Lavelle had a big game at linebacker.

Georgetown baseball finds a way

Georgetown managed just two hits, but drew 10 walks and played stellar defense as the No. 10 Royals beat No. 7 West Roxbury 4-2 in the Division 4 North first round.

Ryan Browner was the winner, not allowing an earned run in three innings of releif, while C.J. Ingraham made four putouts and four assists at second base, including starting a key double play and brother Colby Ingraham had an RBI.

Underclassmen power Greater Lawrence

ANDOVER — A quick glance at the Greater Lawrence roster should have fans optimistic about the future. But the young Reggies might just be heading into that future quicker than expected.

Yesterday, they broke open a tight non-conference game with a strong second half to run away from West Roxbury for a convincing 33-12 victory.

Reggies bounce back, top West Roxbury

WEST ANDOVER — To pick up its second win on the season, Greater Lawrence went back to the basics delivering punishing hits and a 35-8 win over West Roxbury, yesterday afternoon.

Reggies head coach Tony Sarkis was understandably pleased with his squad’s performance. “This was a breakout game for us, both offensively and defensively. We’re starting to play Reggie football now and it shows.”
