Coach Fred Tarbox raved about forward Molly Fitzgerald after Haverhill soccer's 3-0 win over Notre Dame.
"For the second game in a row, Molly Fitzgerald had two incredible goals. The first one she was dribbling and put it in the top right corner from 25 yards out. The second one again was about 20 yards out. A rocket over the goalie's head. She has seven goals on the season. Seven incredible goals. She's one of the league's best forwards. She's terrific. ''
The senior tri-captain is on a roll. After a slow start, Fitzgerald, who was slowed by a torn ligament in her ankle, is now 100 percent. She now has seven goals on the year and she is fired up.
"Coach Tarbox is like, 'Calm down kid. You're able to do it.' I get really excited,'' admitted Fitzgerald.
The first goal yesterday set the tone for the Hillies, who evened their record at 4-4-2.
"My first reaction is to scream, 'Yessss!' I've had a tough start and it's finally kicking in.
Fitzgerald is moving up the scoring charts for the Brown and Gold. The four-year starter, who was more of a playmaker freshman year, now has 29 career goals."
She admitted, "I want to beat my record (11 goals last year)."
An Eagle-Tribune All-Star as a sophomore, Fitzgerald would like to continue her career at Franklin Pierce, where former Hillie Meghan Welcome (HHS '00) was an All-American, or UMass Lowell, where ex-Hillie Natalie Mendoza was a four-year mainstay, or Emmanuel.
