 READING — Junior quarterback Ryan Havey of North Reading completed 9 of 12 passes for 177 yards and two touchdowns yesterday to lead Austin Prep past North Reading 36-6 at Reading High School field.

North Reading struggled all day in the weather and never got its offense untracked in the first half. Austin led 14-0 at half. Senior J.R. Richard of North Reading got the next Austin score, in the third quarter, on a 40-yard interception for a 22-0 lead.

North Reading then got untracked and went 60 yards in six plays. Senior quarterback John Brooks threw a 43-yard scoring pass down the left sideline and Nick Rosano hauled the ball in stride and went for the score.

  Austin then blew the game open with two more scores, on a Havey pass to senior Ray Acciavatti of North Reading) and a 5-yard scoring run by Acciavatti later in the fourth quarter. Havey added two conversion runs on the day, while senior Lou Caraglia of Plaistow, N.H., rushed for one.

Junior fullback Billy Maradei also ran in a touchdown in the Cougars who improved to 3-1.

For North Reading,  Rosano led all rushers on the day with 68 yards on 10 carries, while Brooks completed five passes for 61 yards and a touchdown. The Hornets fall to 1-3 overall.
