Knights rally to win CAL Meet

ROXBURY — North Andover, which went unbeaten in the regular season, rallied to win the Cape Ann League Meet by placing second in the final event, the 4x400 relay.

Trailing Hamilton-Wenham by 4.5 points, Eleni Coufos, Carrie Manteiga, Danielle Coskren and Mikayla Guthrie combined for a 4:23.78 clocking and vaulted the Knights to the championship.

Superior 3-point shooting made the difference as Georgetown beat North Reading for the first time in four years, 57-53. Kristin Hogan drained six 3's in a 26-point effort, raising her season trifecta total to 36. Diminutive guard Marisa Agganis hauled down 10 rebounds and scored nine points in the victory.

Huge Hornet rally falls short

Georgetown showed its best defense (holding North Reading to just two free throws in the first quarter) and its worst (giving up 38 points in a furious Hornet fourth-quarter comeback) last night, but timely free throw shooting saved the Royals in a 71-68 victory. North Reading carved a 17-point deficit down to three behind 21 points from Tommy Hogan, but Tyler Wade (24 points) and Pat Bjork (16 points) hit 13 foul shots down the stretch to preserve the win.
