LYNN | You can go ahead and call Friday night's football game between Gloucester and Lynn Classical the game of the year on the North Shore up to this point.

Trailing by 10 points with seven minutes to play in the game, the Fishermen completed an improbable comeback by scoring two touchdowns in the last three minutes of the game to defeat the Rams, 26-22, at Manning Field. With the victory, Gloucester remained undefeated on the season at 8-0.

The first of the late-game scores came on a 25-yard touchdown pass from Gloucester junior quarterback Rick Gallant to Dylan Maki. The junior went up over Lynn Classical defensive back Quivari Jackson for a jump ball and pulled in his first catch of the year. Andrew Fulford added a two-point conversion and the score was 22-20 with 2:43 left in the contest.

The Fishermen defense took care of their responsibilities next.

Classical coach Matt Durgin rolled the dice by going for a fourth-and-two from the Gloucester 49-yard line with 1:55 left in the game, as opposed to punting and giving the Fishermen a long field. However, Gloucester stuffed Jackson (21 rushes, 72 yards) at the line of scrimmage and took over the ball with tremendous field position.

Anthony Enderle, who had two touchdowns and 180 yards rushing in the game, took two carries down to the Classical 2-yard line and Fulford capped off the three-play drive with a 2-yard run for the go-ahead score. It completed a 22-0 run for the Fishermen after being shut down for the second and third quarters.

The Fishermen jumped on top on their first possession of the game as Enderle capped off a six-play drive with a 38-yard touchdown run. The extra point kick went wide.

Gloucester's lead, however, was short-lived as Classical put together a 14-play drive that was capped off by a 25-yard touchdown pass from senior quarterback Alex Watler to Jackson. After the touchdown, Bryndyn Primus ran in the two-point conversion to put Classical on top, 8-6.

The Rams then added 14 more unanswered points to take the 22-6 lead.

Classical scored three minutes into the third quarter when senior Tony Johnson scooped up a Gloucester fumble and returned it 51-yards for the touchdown. Eight minutes later, the Rams added another touchdown when Cameron Smith ran it in from three yards out.

Enderle finally broke the scoring drought with a 42-yard TD run with 7:15 left in the game.

The victory puts Gloucester at 3-0 in Northeastern Conference Large play, tied with Salem for tops in the division.
