The Royals had 17 hits to the Chieftains' 12, but late game heroics by Masconomet sealed the win. Hannah Birnie (3 for 5, double, run), Calley O'Connor (1 for 1, RBI, run), Kassie Barba (1 for 2, RBI), Sarah Osbourne (2 for 5, RBI), Sarah Erlandson ( 4 for 4, RBI, 2 runs), Lauren Kalfin (2 for 4, run), and Mel Prior (3 for 4, double, game-tying run in the seventh) all played well for the Royals. Sarah Erlandson recorded 11 strike outs.
"It was a tough loss, but it was an amazing game and I am very proud of how well the girls played," said Royals coach Julie Lamoly. "We just couldn't capitalize at the right time. We need to keep the offense rolling and consistent."
