Port, Karelis surge by North Reading

The Newburyport Clippers (5-2-3) overwhelmed the North Reading Hornets (0-7-2) last night, 4-0. The Clippers leading scorer, Ashley Karelis, notched two goals and an assist, while Callie Hefferan and Cassandra Davis scored goals, and Taylor Purcell had an assist. Leah Svoboda and Haley Morris had three saves each for Newburyport. The Clippers had the advantage in corner penalties (5-4) and shots on goal (26-4).

"Ashley Karelis played unbelievably tonight with a couple beautiful shots on goal," said Clipper coach Lauren Hefferan. "Callie Hefferan and Rachel Notargiacomo both played excellent also. The team flowed tonight, and the new system is really catching on."
