HILLSBORO — With its ground game stymied, Pelham went to the air Saturday to shut out Hillsboro-Deering 28-0.

The only score of the first three quarters came early in the second quarter when Chris Barsalou caught a a 29-yard pass from Ian Hoey.

Barsalou all but put the game out of reach in the third quarter when he intercepted a pass and returned it 58 yards for the score. That followed a 61-yard strike from Hoey to Brett Lindsay.

The Pythons (2-3) added extra insurance late when Jake Herrling ran it in from five yards out.

Pelham's defense staged a goal line stand to end the first half and stopped Hillsboro on three fourth downs in the second half.

"Our defense played well while our offense had too many penalties all the way across the board," said Pelham coach Tom Babaian.
