North Reading led by a goal late in the third period, but Stoneham scored to send the game to overtime, then added the winner in the second OT to beat the Hornets 2-1 in the Division 2 North semifinals.
Patrick Scanlon scored the North Reading goal, with assists going to Owen Maxwell and James Doran. Hornets goalie John Day made 35 saves.
"When the tournament started we knew every game would be tight because we don't allow a lot of goals, but we don't score many either," said North Reading coach John Giuliotti. "Stoneham took advantage of its chance. But I am so proud of the guys."
