Whittier's softball team not only ended the regular season with a 16-1 romp of Greater Lawrence but that counted as the semifinals of the State Vocational Tournament because the Wildcats (17-3) were seeded first and the Reggies fourth. Kayla Riley threw a one-hitter over five innings, striking out nine, and had a home run and scored three runs and Ashley Wilson (2 for 4) and surgings sophomore Eliza Slocum (3 for 4) also had home runs. Dominique Ortiz had four RBIs.

Whittier will host the State Vocational championship game at 4 p.m. Monday against the winner of Assabet Valley and Blackstone.
