Central in tourney

Central Catholic needed to win against Catholic Memorial to make the state tournament. With help from Robert Petrosillo posting his fifth shutout of the season and goals from Adam Johnson and Zack Bunnell, Central was able to best Memorial 2-0 to make the state tournament.

McQuillan, Andover hold off Central

Sean McQuillan scored in the 18th minute and Andover never looked back in its 1-0 win over Central Catholic.

 "The game was very tight and really intense," said coach Jim Saalfrank of Methuen. "It was a playoff caliber game. It wasn't a battle for the Merrimack Valley championship, but beating Central helps us out. It's two points closer to the title."

Alex Jimenez and Zach Sindoni both scored with under 15 minutes remaining as Haverhill boys soccer (2-5-1) erased a one-goal deficit to win 2-1 against Central (1-1-5). Mike Regan scored the lone goal for Central. It came 42 seconds into the game. Haverhill keeper Jared Grazio made five saves.
