No. 18 Central Catholic took a 1-0 lead three minutes into the game on a goal by Alex Parisi, but could get no closer and fell to No. 15 Dracut 4-1 in the Division 2 North preliminary round.

Central Catholic needed to win against Catholic Memorial to make the state tournament. With help from Robert Petrosillo posting his fifth shutout of the season and goals from Adam Johnson and Zack Bunnell, Central was able to best Memorial 2-0 to make the state tournament.

Colin David scored off a scramble with four minutes left to give Haverhill a 1-1 tie with Central Catholic. 

Sean McQuillan scored in the 18th minute and Andover never looked back in its 1-0 win over Central Catholic.

 "The game was very tight and really intense," said coach Jim Saalfrank of Methuen. "It was a playoff caliber game. It wasn't a battle for the Merrimack Valley championship, but beating Central helps us out. It's two points closer to the title."

The Pentucket and Central Catholic boys soccer teams played to a 1-1 tie yesterday.

After a scoreless first half, Central's Alex Parisi and Pentucket's Josh Croteau both scored in the second half.  

Tyler Graham scored two minutes into the game and Matt Fenlon scored in the final minute as Central Catholic downed Billerica 2-0.

Alex Jimenez and Zach Sindoni both scored with under 15 minutes remaining as Haverhill boys soccer (2-5-1) erased a one-goal deficit to win 2-1 against Central (1-1-5). Mike Regan scored the lone goal for Central. It came 42 seconds into the game. Haverhill keeper Jared Grazio made five saves.

Central Catholic's boys soccer team did it again yesterday, tying Revere 0-0. That put the Raiders at 1-0-4 on the year. Robert Petrosillo made six saves to get his first varsity shutout.

Junior Michael Regan and sophomore Thomas Sar scored their first varsity goals to lift Central a 2-1 win over Lowell. Anthony Greco and Brad Donahue led tjhe defense.
