Surette saves the day

April Surette racked up 22 big saves as Georgetown dropped Manchester Essex, 18-11, to advance to the Division 2 North second round. Shannon Hartford lived up to the hype while leading the offense with 11 points (six goals, five assists), and Kelly Burke chipped in a hat trick to go along with three assists. Double milestone

Shannon Hartford tallied her 500th career point on the same day Georgetown clinched its third straight CAL Division 2 small title as the Royals downed North Reading, 13-8. Hartford finished with 11 points (six goals, five assists) while April Surette turned aside 15 shots to secure the win. Chandler Knight had a hat trick for the Hornets.

For the year in a row, Georgetown secured the out-right CAL Divsion 2 small title, and in the process Shannon Hartford (6 goals, 5 assists) secured her 500th career point. All in all a big day for the Royals.

Georgetown 13, Triton 6

Georgetown (11-5 overall, 9-4 Cape Ann League) clinched a share of the Cape Ann League Division 2 title with a 13-6 victory over Triton. Emma Cannon had three goals and three assists. Shannon Hartford added three goals and two assists. Kristin Pingree (2 goals, 2 assists), Kelly Burke (2 goals, 1 assist), Meghan Makiver (2 goals) and Michelle Reilly (1 goal, 1 assist) also scored points.

Kelly Burke scored six goals for Georgetown (10-5). Emma Cannon added three. Kristin Pingree (2 goals), Shannon Hartford (1 goal, 2 assists), Meghan Makiver (1 goal), Alyssa Rosenthal (1 goal), Kim Nowers (1 assist), and Brittany Moker (1 assist) keyed the offense. Goalie April Surrette made 17 saves — giving her a total of 34 in a span of two days.

Making her return after missing just a single game with a broken hand, standout Shannon Hartford returned, cast and all, to rack up four goals and four assists in Georgetown's 17-7 win over Wilmington. Steph Taylor had a career-high 21 saves as North Andover crushed Georgetown, 12-3. Bri Connolly had a hat trick and Caroline Barclay (two goals, two assists) matched her point production. Erika Zahoruiko was a star on defense, holding Royals leading scorer Shannon Hartford to just one assist.
