LAWRENCE – It was a tale of two teams, possibly moving in different directions.

Manny Arias hit seven 3-pointers on his way to a game-high 23 points and Haverhill rolled past Lowell Catholic 93-64. Angel Burgos and Zach Guertin each hit two 3's each.

Elijah Haas (14 points), Angel Burgos (11), Phillip Cunningham (10) and Jeremyah Phillips (9) led a balanced offensive effort as Haverhill tripped up Dracut, 62-53, to improve to 13-6 heading into the regular season finale at Lowell Catholic. Tip-off is 2:30 p.m.

Haverhill topped Methuen, 56-46. Elijah Haas had a team-high 16 off the bench for the Hillies. Jeremyah Phillips ripped down 11 boards. The story for the Rangers was Andrew Lussier (21 points, 6 3's). At 9-9, Methuen has to win one of its last two (Chelmsford, Springfield Phoenix) to make the state tourney.

HAVERHILL – One of the area’s best comeback stories this winter has been brewing in Haverhill, where seemingly every night you can find a different star.

Angel Burgos had 17 points with four 3s and Manny Arias added 13 points to lead Haverhill to a 79-70 win over Chelmsford. The win qualifies the Hillies (10-5) for the playoffs.

Zach Guertin scored a career-high 15 points on five 3s, as Haverhill hung on in overtime to beat Tewksbury, 70-64. Phillip Cunningham added 12 points and 11 rebounds, and Jeremyah Phillips chipped in 9 points and 11 boards for the Hillies, who were also celebrating coach Souleymane Wayne's birthday.

Emmanuel Arias sank five 3-pointers and poured in 22 points to pace Haverhill over Lowell Catholic, 71-57.

METHUEN – In an age when many offenses live – and die – from long range, the Haverhill boys are more than willing to go old school.

Friday night, the Hillies made their living inside, dominating the lane and the boards in a 61-52 victory over Methuen.

Dracut's 3-pointer at the buzzer rimmed out as Haverhill prevailed 66-64. Manny Arias and Jeremy Valdez both tossed in 14 points. Coach Souleymane Wane said Valdez is a 6-7 freshman who has missed almost all of the season while in the Dominican.
