Pinkerton's King wins New England title

DURHAM, N.H. — J.J. King, who has oinly done track for two years, won the javelin at the 73rd annual New England Championships at UNH's Reggie Atkins Track.

The senior, who is a UNH recruit, threw 189-4. The 6-4, 215-pounder's third of six throws was the big one. It was just off his modern school record of 190-5. Rhode Island freshman Ian Hall was runner-up with a 185-2 throw. Pinkerton senior Noah Woodman took second in the 400 (49.05) and anchored the Astros' eighth-place 4x400 relay. That quartet, which also included Jadyn Ruimwijk, Adam Spencer and Pat Hanlon, was clocked in 3:27.89.

Lawrence wins North decathlon title

An inexperienced but talented Lawrence High trio pulled a stunner and won the North Sectional team decathlon title.

The Lancers totalled 15,560 points to beat out runner-up Central Catholic (15,377).

FITCHBURG — Lowell won the boys' title at the All-State meet and some MVC rivals had some stellar performances. Andover senior Matt McDermott won the discus with a 169-1 toss, just 11 inches off his area record. Teammate Alec Pascoe again starred with a sixth in the 110 hurdles and a fifth in the 400 hurdles.

Pascoe sets record at EMass. Division 1 meet

It was a record day for more than one Golden Warrior.

Andover’s Alec Pascoe won the 400 hurdles in 54.48, breaking the EMass. Division 1 meet record of 54.61 set by Chris Pullerits of Acton-Boxboro in 2010. It was just short of the Andover High record (54.33) set by former Eagle-Tribune MVP Sean Caveney in 2015.

Bret is brilliant

Bret Edwards won the triple jump (40-1) and high jump (6-2) to lead Central Catholic to a 101-44 victory over Andover. Matt McDermott led the Golden Warriors, winning the discus (164-10).

Clohisy, May impress at Weston Twilight

Pentucket's Jack Clohisy was second in the 110 hurdles (15.06) to lead Pentucket at the Weston Twilight Invitational.

Haverhill's Keith May added a third in the 800 (1:57.68) while Methuen's Saul Cespedes was third in the high jump (6-3). Pentucket's Jacob Dickson was fourth in the long jump (20-7).

Big jump for Cespedes

Methuen senior Saul Cespedes had one of the better high jumps of the young season, clearing 6-4. He also won the long jump (21-7.5) to help the Rangers take down Andover 79-66.
