Georgetown-Ipswich’s Ian Forgitano and Pentucket’s Devin Young were the top two locals at Division 3 States in Wakefield, taking second at 106 and 195 respectively.

30th for 2 Royals

 

Georgetown/Ipswich's wrestling team completed its best-ever dual meet season with a 39-36 victory over Watertown to finish at 21-2. Josaiah Krason and Charlie Koshivas both picked up their 30th wins of the year for G-I (21-2).

G/I stays perfect

 

Georgetown/Ipswich piled up three more wins to remain undefeated (18-0). The Forgitano brothers, Ian and Troy, got things rolling with two wins apiece at 106 and 113 and Mark Mansfield had a big day at 170 with three pins. Erik Bratland looked sharp with a pair of wins at 195.

Georgetown repeats

 

 Georgetown/Ipswich repeated as champions of the Brookline Duals by winning four times to improve to 15-0, already just one win away from the school record.

Ian Forgitano (106) and John Blythe (152) were both 4-0 with four pins and Charlie Koshivas won the team outstanding wrestler plaque.

Georgetown/Ipswich wrestling improved to 11-0 with a 45-25 beating of Masconomet. Troy Forgitano had a key 5-4 decision at 113 and both Matt Mansfield (145) and John Blythe (152) also had close decisions.

Georgetown won twice in a weather-shortened quad-meet at Gloucester to improve to 10-0. Josiah Krason (126) and John Blythe (152) both had a pair of pins and Ian Forgitano had a big 3-2 win over Mike Titus of Saugus at 113.

Escape for Blythe

 

Rob Blythe got an escape with 13 seconds left to secure a 1-0 win at 138 to give Georgetown-Ipswich an exciting 39-36 win over Whittier in a quad-meet at Pentucket. Also key for G-I (now 7-0) was that Ian Forgitano, wrestling up at 120 pounds, got a late pin. Led by Shaun Mears at 170, Whittier wrestlers were unbeaten in the final five weight classes.

Rolling Royals

 

The Georgetown wrestling team remained unbeaten (4-0), defeating Triton 45-27 for the first time in at least 15 years. Heavyweight Cam Dalley got the meet started on the right foot for the Royals with a 38-second pin.

Royals win tourney

 

Georgetown won its first individual tournament since 1996 by winning the nine-team Scituate Tournament, crowning four champions and scoring 160 points. Leading the way was John Blythe, who was named tourney Outstanding Wrestler after beating Scituate's tough John Harshe 2-0 in the finals.

Mark Mansfield wrestled up a weight class and won 5-4 at 182 with a late takedown. Another Georgetown-Ipswich winner was his brother Matt.
