Plymouth State's Rob Giles of Derry was named MASCAC Special Teams Player of the Week, the second time this season he has earned the honor. He has three field goals in the Panthers' 41-9 loss to Framingham State and also averaged 55 yards on four kickoffs.

Dylan Parsons had eight services points with five aces and Victoria Nassar notched 24 digs as Central Catholic volleyball beat Methuen 3-0.

Haley DeRoche led Haverhill in digs with 21 and had 10 kills to back up Abigail Sonugu's 19 kills as the Hillies (11-3) swept Central Catholic in volleyball. 

Azita Bakhtyari recorded 22 kills and added four aces as Andover volleyball swept rival Central Catholic 3-0.  

"Erin Cox (30 assists) dominated the court setting up the offense and Central couldn't stop it!" raved North Andover coach Veronica Schaefer after her 5-0 Knights swept the Raiders. It's been quite the year already for NA, which had already beaten Andover.

Barnstable volleyball has won 15 state titles in the previous 20 falls. Central Catholic knew well what it was getting into, having fallen to the Red Raiders in the 2011 title match. In season opening action yesterday on the Cape, the Red Raiders tripped up the Raiders 3-0. Playing well in defeat were Victoria Nassar and Olivia Imprescia.
