Tie for title

 

In its first season, the North Andover's boys soccer team clinched at least a tie for the Merrimack Valley Conference crown with a 5-0 win over Central Catholic. Michael Skarbelis had a hat trick and added an assist for the Knights (13-1-2, 12-0-2 in the MVC) and Evan Dudney had a goal and two assists.

Alex steps up

Sophomore Alex Botazzi came up huge in the Central Catholic net, turning aside a pair of point-blank Haverhill shots in the final two minutes to preserve a scoreless soccer tie. Evan Penney did his part in the Hillie cage with eight saves.

Chelmsford 1, Central Catholic 0

Chelmsford scored with 15 minutes left in the game to defeat Central Catholic in boys soccer, 1-0. The Raiders scored earlier on a penalty kick only to have the goal waved off when a player entered the penalty area too early. Chelmsford's goalie saved the second attempt to set up his team for victory.
