AVERHILL — After allowing last week's opponent (Revere) a game-winning drive, Whittier's mission yesterday was simple: ball control and momentum.

GEORGETOWN – Manchester Essex’s defense looked mighty suspect on the first play from scrimmage but was impenetrable after that.

The Hornets held Georgetown to just seven points in a 28-7 Thanksgiving Day victory.

GEORGETOWN — An already young Georgetown High team got even younger this week.

The youthful remaining Royals delivered a brave but fruitless error here yesterday, falling to Lynnfield, 35-7.

GEORGETOWN — Unable to cash in on a pair of long drives, Georgetown fell to Ipswich 26-6. Junior running back Tim Dillon rushed for 54 yards, while senior quarterback Tyler Wade passed for 84 yards to lead the Royals, who dropped to 1-6.
Ipswich Junior Peter Moutevelis led all rushers with 113 yards and two touchdowns.
Ipswich forced an early fumble on a blitz and Moutevelis pounced on the loose ball and took it 47 yards to the end zone.
Wade crashed in from the 1 to tie it up late in the first quarter.
The Royals were in sight of the go-ahead score but they had a drive stall at the 11 before turning it over on downs. Ipswich then embarked on a 10-minute drive for the go-ahead score. The drive included two fake punts.
Early in the third the hosts again had a long drive stall. This time at the 4.
“Nineteen times this year we’ve had the ball in our opponents 30 yard line or less and we’ve come away with no points,” said coach Paul Sobolewski, “That’s the sign of a young team, even if we get points on half of those possessions, we probably have a couple of more wins.”

Tyler Wade completed 6 of 10 passes for 98 yards but he also threw two interceptions as Georgetown was routed  33-6 by Amesbury last night.

Georgetown backs rushed 22 times for 91 yards. Tim Dillon ran nine times for 67 yards. 

GEORGETOWN — Anthony Guthro ran for 135 yards with a touchdown to help Saugus sink Georgetown 28-6. Saugus improved to 1-4 while the Royals dropped to 1-3. A Georgetown turnover on the first possession of the game led to Saugus’ first score, a 2-yard quarterback sneak by C.J. Randolph. The Royals’ second possession ended in an interception. Shortly after, Nick Benoit cashed in on a 7-yard run. The Royals drove to the Saugus 7 late in the half but the drive stalled. Saugus put the game out of reach in the second half on a Guthro touchdown run and a 78-yard touchdown catch by Ryan Henehan. Georgetown scored its lone points on a 10-yard Tyler Wade pass to Pat Bjork late in the third quarter. “You can’t get into the red zone four times and only come away with six points,” Royals coach Paul Sobolewski said. “That’s what it came down to. They were a little bit hungrier than we were. Football comes down to blocking and tackling. We didn’t do a good job of either one and that’s on me, I’ve got to do a better job. “I said before the season started that I’m not worried about wins and losses, I’m worried about restoring a program. Which is what I was asked to do ... try to bring some pride back. And right now, we’re young and you’re seeing that. You’re seeing that aspect of it.”
