Needing a win to make the state tournament,  Methuen fell to Lowell 26-24, 28-26, 25-21. Kyle Mansour led the Rangers (8-10) with 11 kills and 15 service points.

Still unbeaten

 

Haverhill's volleyball team remained unbeaten (15-0) with a sweep of Methuen. Brett Pettis had 11 kills and four aces for the Hillies and Zach Sindoni had seven kills and 31 assists.

Rangers surging

Zack Branchaud recorded team-highs in service points (17) and assists (31) as Methuen scored its second straight huge victory, a 25-19, 26-24, 20-25, 25-16 win over Andover. The Golden Warriors swept the Rangers in their season-opener.

Andover topped Methuen in season-opening action, 3-0. Andover coach Dave Kuykendall said, "D.J. Begos was definitely player of the game. His blocking was huge for us."
