The tough early schedule has taken its toll on the Fishermen, as they fell to 0-2 on the young season. Center fielder Ross Carlson had three hits and Brett Cahill added two hits to lead the way for Gloucester.

Evan Bunker bashed two homers in the sixth inning as the Chieftains (2-0) sent 12 men to the plate and scored nine times to blow the game wide open and top Gloucester 12-3.

Kyle Shepard fanned seven Fishermen in recording the win and also had two hits, two runs and an RBI to help his own cause. Pat Matvichuk drove in three runs to help Masco's hot bats, which have produced 29 runs in the first two games of the season.

The Rockport baseball team came into yesterday's regular season opener against Manchester Essex looking to sure-up their offense. The Vikings had a tough time hitting in the preseason and were looking for a big game to get their confidence back.

At times the relationship between Rockport High School pitching ace Derek Osmond and catcher Erik Juncker resembles an episode of "I Love Lucy," which provides comedy for head coach John Parisi.
