McShan, Central volleyball advance

Ryan McShan scored team-highs with 19 kills and four blocks to help No. 31 Central Catholic beat No. 34 Doherty in the Division 1 preliminary round. Jaithian Medina added 20 service points and Juanjose Cabrera had 17 digs for the Raiders, who will travel to No. 2 Westford Academy on Sunday (noon).

Raider duo take two

Central Catholic's Julia Turrisi won the pole vault (8-6) and high jump (5-0) and fellow raider Macy Daigle took the triple jump (33-0) and 400 (62.7) to lead the way at the Merrimack Valley Conference North Invitational. North Andover's Olivia Siwicki took the 100 hurdles (17.7) and 400 hurdles (62.7). Haverhill's Sydney Vets won the mile (5:55).

Raiders clinch MVC

Grace Lydon scored six goals and Kerri Finneran netted five goals as Central Catholic clinched its first MVC title since 2011 with a 19-9 victory over Billerica. Nicolette Licare adde four goals for the Raiders, who improved to 14-0-1 on the season.
