HAVERHILL – Facing the top-rated team in the state, Matt Pappalardo knew he’d have to bring his best stuff. Facing Austin Prep’s ace for the Pena Division title of the Hillie Classic, the Methuen junior also had to figure a bit of luck wouldn’t hurt either.

Senior Julianna Roche hit two home runs, finishing the game with five RBIs and four runs scored, and her sophomore sister Jenna Roche added her first career varsity homer as North Andover crushed Austin Prep 13-1 in five innings on Friday. Maeve Gaffny added three RBIs.

HPNA threw a scare into unbeaten and untied Austin Prep (21-0) before falling 2-0. Julianna Taylor, a freshman from North Andover, was immense, stopping 50 of 52 AP shots.

Michael Brothers made 33 saves and Adam Godfrey scored two goals as Central Catholic upset Austin Prep — the No. 5 team in the Masshshockey.com state-wide rankings — 3-2 on Monday. Sean Gray added a shorthanded goal for the Raiders (6-5-1), while the Hornets fell to 8-2-1.

Reilly O'Brien, Sam Feng and Joe Colecchi swept the singles as Andover beat Austin Prep, 5-0, to improve to 7-0.

Jennie Wang won No. 2 singles and Rachel Chan took No. 3 singles to help Andover deal Austin Prep its first loss of the season, 4-1. The Golden Warriors improved to 6-0, while the Cougars fell to 5-1.

North Andover placed five skiers in the top 15 overall and rolled to an easy win over Haverhill-Swampscott. The Knight leaders were: 6. Jack Muse, 7. Peter Radulski, 8. Segeve Moritz, 11, Caleb Litster and 13. Dylan Goldman.

Central Catholic had seven different scorers as the Raiders topped Austin Prep, 15-10. Logan Miller led the way with four goals and Caroline Affolter added three, while Olivia Hamilton made nine saves in goal.

The North Andover boys ski team finished the regular season with wins over Masconomet and Austin Prep to finish 10-2 and in second place in the North Shore League. Alex Martel won the race for the Knights with a time of 22.27. Martel finished fifth in the overall league rankings, qualifying him for states along with the top-11 skiiers in the league. Andover's Jason Denoncourt won the league with 145 points.

North Andover's Sydney Schwalm won her second straight North Shore Ski League race by a comfortable half of a second as North Andover's girls rolled to two more wins. Andover's Anna Souter and Haverhill's Jana Lorendo.
