NORTH ANDOVER — Quarterback Michael Wolfendale had another big day through the air but it wasn't enough for Brooks to crack the winning column Saturday.
Wolfendale completed 17 of 29 passes for three touchdowns and 270 yards, but Brooks couldn't stop Middlesex on defense and fell, 31-20. Five different receivers got in the action for Brooks, led by Jackson Connors-McCarthy with four catches for 119 yards and Gabe Fitzgerald eith six receptions for 169 yards.

With star guard Taina Mair out with an ankle injury, Haverhill's Kendall Eddy stepped up in a big way with a season-high 15 points to lead Brooks to a 63-31 win over Middlesex. North Andover's Brooke Cordes also added 15 points for Brooks, which is thankfully expecting Mair back for its game against BB&N on Wednesday.

Northern Essex picked up its first win of the season on the road at Holyoke by a 3-2 final. The match went five sets with the Knights capturing the decisive set by a score of 15-8. Brooke Naatz of North Andover had 18 kills and Andover's Sarah Shattuck, who was returning to the lineup from injury recorded 11 service aces.
