Senior forward Paul Thompson of Derry and junior defenseman Blake Kessel of the eighth-ranked University of New Hampshire men’s hockey team were named semifinalists for the 59th annual Walter Brown Award, presented annually to the best American-born college hockey player in New England.
A two-time Hockey East Player of the Month (November and January) and three-time Hockey East Player of the Week, Thompson ranks second in the nation in goals (24), goals per game (.87) and points per game (1.57). In addition, Thompson leads the nation in power play goals with 11.
