No. 8 Pentucket fell to No. 9 Winchester 2-1 in the first round of the Division 1 North field hockey tourney yesterday afternoon.
Hannah Wilkins scored the lone Pentucket (11-4-5) goal 5:48 into the second half on an assist from Shannon Beaton. Mel Coffin scored both of Winchester's goals, the second with less than five minutes remaining in the second half.
“We hung in there for 55 minutes, and then there was a five-minute period where we lost some steam,” said Pentucket coach Ruth Beaton. “How we didn’t convert some of our opportunities, I don’t know. But we have nothing to hang our heads about. We had a great season.”
