Andover got the Merrimack Valley Conference Large Swimming Championships off to a fast start, placing four of the top eight divers on opening day in Lowell.
Freshman Deborah Daly led the way for the Golden Warriors with a score of 245.50 followed by sophomore teammate Jenny Coneeny (222.90 points). Sophomore Courtney Stone finished fifth overall (197.10) and junior Gabrielle Galat was eighth (181.60).
"It was kind of neat," Andover head coach Marilyn Fitzgerald said. "The girls' dives seemed to have a higher degree of difficulty and that helped. I knew Jenny would have a good day but to get a second from her was a nice surprise. We had a great day of diving."
Haverhill also excelled behind Leigh Freeman (fourth, 200.05), Angie Comei (sixth, 186.05) and Tara Lynch (seventh, 185.60). Central Catholic was paced by Courtney Smith's third-place finish (210.70).
Swimming takes place today at UMass Lowell.
