NORTH ANDOVER — Points were at a premier Saturday afternoon, but when the final buzzer sounded Brooks had dropped a 15-12 nailbitter to Groton.

After a scoreless first half, Brooks (0-2) struck first when John Manzi broke off a 20-yard touchdown run, but the extra point attempt failed. Groton (2-0) quickly responded with a Caleb Coleman 11-yard run to make it a 7-6 game, but Brooks took a 12-7 lead heading into the fourth when Darrel Yepdo caught a 7-yard pass from Connor Silva.

In the fourth, however, Groton scored the winning touchdown on Coleman's second TD run of the game, this one from 25 yards out.

Silva had a productive day passing, finishing 15 for 29 for 171 yards and the touchdown. John Manzi led the way on the ground with 75 yards on 19 carries.

Brooks will look for its first win on Saturday when it hosts St. George's at 5:30 p.m.
