BRIDGEWATER — Last week at the Eastern Mass. Division 2 championships, Erick Duffy may have put together the greatest double ever by an area trackster.
Yesterday (and Thursday) he outdid that. Thursday he pole vaulted 16-7, breaking his own state record to grab his third straight All-State title. Yesterday, he smashed his own school record of 14.30 with a 14.10 to also win the 110 hurdles. For good measure, he ran on the sixth-place 4x400 team.
North Andover's Matt Manteiga took a fifth in the long jump and Jack Perry tied for eighth in the pole vault to help the Knights to a second-place finish in the entire state. Duffy and Co. scored 27.33 points, trailing only Newton North with 41 points.
