haverhill sophomore Sam Prescott seemed eager to return to the mat Saturday. Out briefly with bruised ribs, Prescott came back strong at the Hillie duals, pinning five straight opponents at 145 as the Hillies finished second in the dual-meet tournament.
"He (Prescott) was very impressive," said Haverhill coach Tim Lawlor. "It's like he couldn't wait to get out there."
The Hillies handled Merrimack (45-33), a depleted North Reading/Lynnfield squad (53-24), Cambridge (39-33) and Brookline (33-28) before falling to West Springfield, 46-27 in the finals.
Also finishing 5-0 on the day were sophomore Kevin Fuller at 113 and freshman Jake Nicolosi at 126. Captain Matt Coyne also had a big day for the Hillies (now 12-12) with four pins at 138.
