Lawrence's Darwin Fabian is off to a 1-1 start on the mound, and Bradford's Andrew Barba starts in the outfield and currently is hitting .278 with five runs and four RBIs in six games.

Fabian's younger brother Danyer is a promising prospect as a sophomore, and Ricky Marte, also of Lawrence, adds depth off the bench.

But don't go and brand Georgetown coach Mark Rowe as a top recruiter or even just being in the right place at the right time.

Here's a guy, coaching in a tiny town, who lost an Eagle-Tribune All-Star catcher in Sam Conte to Phillips Andover (Class of 2007) last year.

"I still think with him we could have won a state title," notes Rowe.

Oh, by the way, Conte's replacement behind the dish for the Big Blue this spring? Geoff Lynch, a junior from Georgetown of course.

And while he's known more for his hockey heroics, another Georgetown product, Colin Prior at St. John's Prep, would certainly be a welcome addition on the Georgetown diamond.

"That's just the way it goes," said the always even-keeled Rowe.
