Playing for the first time on Salem State College's new synthetic turf field, the Witches had it going on both offense and defense in the 10-4 triumph over Revere in the Northeastern Conference. Senior right-hander Justin Williams went six innings for the win, allowing eight hits and just two earned runs. Wes Koen pitched a scoreless seventh inning.
Junior catcher T.J. Larivee sparked the offense with three hits, including a double, and two RBIs. Aiden Church contributed two hits and an RBI and Dan Reddy collected two hits and an RBI. Mack Ryan had a single, double and an RBI.
Salem played aggressively on offense and stole eight bases while improving to 5-2. It was Salem's fourth win in a row and a good sign for the Witches, who play a hot Beverly team tomorrow at Beverly (10 a.m.).
"It's a good start to the season. The kids have been consistent and we're really running the bases well. We have an experienced team and the confidence level is high," said Salem coach Mike Ward.
