Ferri helps Jags to second in D2 meet

Jon Ferri won an individual state championship in the 220 weight class to help Windham take second place at the Division 2 state meet.

"He wrestled at 182 for most of the year but it was better for our team if he went up two weights," said coach Tom Darrin.
Ferri finished in second place in the 182 weight class last year at this same meet.

"He dominated his weight class," Darrin said. "His finals match he won 12-1."

Hollis-Brookline won with 200.5 points ahead of Windham (193) and third-place Winnacunnet (149).

"We only lost because Hollis-Brookline wrestled really well, too," Darrin said.

The Jags received second-place individual finishes from Peter Caron (113 class), Troy Peters (152) and Ross Wentworth (182) and Mike Tanguay (195).

"What was impressive is that we had all 14 wrestlers place which is the first time we've had that happen," Darrin said.
