Senior captain Pat Doliber scored two first period goals for Bishop Fenwick but the Crusaders were dealt their first setback of the season when Northeast Malden's Barry Clinton recorded a goal with just over a minute left in the game.
"We played a sluggish first period. We were getting beat to the puck," Bishop Fenwick coach Bo Tierney said after his team fell to 2-1-1. "But the disappointing part is that we outplayed them in the third period and still lost."
Craig Forrest finished with 18 saves in goal for Bishop Fenwick, which outshot Northeast Malden, 33-21.
Bishop Fenwick plays Rockport tomorrow night in Gloucester (7 p.m.)
