Odds and ends: The Knights didn't qualify for the state tournament for the second straight year. Before that, the last time Knights didn't make the postseason was 1981-82. ... Amanda Foote is the sister of former North Andover three-sport star Andrew Foote. ... Nicole Zahoruiko has added a mid-range jumper to her arsenal. ... Lindsay Breen, a volunteer assistant last season, will step in as the JV coach for Debbie Daley, who recently had a baby. Breen, whose aunt is the head coach, was an All-League guard for North Andover in 2002. ... Mariah Dellea recently had knee surgery but looks to be 100 percent.

Coach Sue Breen (9th year, 117-54): "I'm very optimistic, looking forward to the season. ... We're not very tall, but we'll hustle a lot. Nicole (Zahoruiko's) so athletic. We just had a scrimmage. I couldn't believe how quickly she just got up and down the floor. She's tall, she's quick. She can put the ball in the net."
