SHREWSBURY — Top-seeded Andover placed fourth at the state gymnastics meet.
The top four was Algonquin 143.700, Beverly 141.55, Chelmsford 141.525 and Andover 140.85. The Golden Warriors scored 143.55 points to win the North Sectional title but injuries slowed them a bit.
"I was pretty happy," said Andover coach Kristen Vadala. "We have a lot of injuries. Natalie Wagner landed on her neck in warmups, two minutes before the meet. And Dominique Cadet dislocated her shoulder last week but still competed."
The Golden Warriors, who were unbeaten until yesterday, were led by Jessie Livingston (vault, bars), Courtney Carver (floor) and Jenny Coneeny (beam, floor).
Eight teams qualify for the state team championship. Andover has made it three of the last four years. The Golden Warriors were hoping for the second state title in school history. The 2000 team won it all.
