Setting a new junior class school record and coming within 0.2 of a second of the overall standard, Methuen's Mike O'Donnell blazed to victory in the 1,000 meter run at the Coaches Elite Meet in Boston.
His clocking of 2:32.91 earned O'Donnell an invite to compete in the mile as part of next weekend's New Balance Grand Prix event, also at Reggie Lewis Center.
Andover also registered a victory at the meet as its 4x800 relay squad of Ryan Cooney, Charlie Schlefer, Michael Maldari and Patrick O'Sullivan topped the field in 8:10.12. Cooney also placed fifth in the 1,000, a little over a second behind O'Donnell.
Bryan Browne of Georgetown and St. John's Prep is peaking going into the postseason, running a personal best 36.02 to place fourth in the 300.
