Top seed Georgetown continued its rampage through the Division 3 North bracket, beating No. 9 Mystic Valley, 8-0 to advance to the semifinals tomorrow.

The Royals (now 16-1-3) will take on fourth seed and CAL nemesis Rockport (14-4-2) at Lynn's Manning Field at 3:15 p.m.

As a first-year program, Mystic Valley (10-7-1) played well to get to the quarterfinals but just didn't have the horses to keep up with Georgetown.

Chris Birnie got the offense rolling when he took a header from John Laut and found the net, starting his second four-point game of the playoffs.

Seven different Royals notched goals including freshman Will Soucy, garnering his first varsity goal.

Defensively, rarely-used sophomore Chris Chiklakis really stepped up and contributed to the Royals' shutout effort.

"We played a very balanced game, and everyone got a chance to contribute," said head coach Chris DiFranco. "We look forward to the semis against a hungry Rockport team we know well."

The two teams played to a 1-1 tie to open the season in Rockport, and Georgetown prevailed at home, 2-0, in a rematch in late September.
