Westborough | 7 | 3 | 10 |
Andover outscored three-time defending Central Mass. champion Westborough by a 9-3 count and registered a 15-10 decision behind three goals each from Meagan Keefe, Jen Caro and Ally Fazio.
This was the third straight year that the two lacrosse powers have met and the Golden Warriors now lead the series, 2-1.
"This is a great non-league series," said Andover head coach John McVeigh, whose team trailed 7-6 at the break. "In the second half we did a great job winning draws and getting ground balls."
Andover goalie Jill Beucler recorded 10 saves and came up with some key stops in the second half. "She had a tremendous second half," said McVeigh. "This game was a lot closer than the final score indicated. I am proud of the way our team responded in the second half."
Andover improves to 11-1 and Westborough falls to 11-2.
