ANDOVER — Funny thing about these Thanksgiving games ... the first quarter is just as important as the last.

Favored Lawrence High learned that lesson a year ago.

Yesterday, it was 10-0 Greater Lawrence Tech's turn.

The players love it, the coaches want it, and the community is growing to enjoy it.

Still, the future of Lawrence High-Greater Lawrence Tech remains a mystery.

"I'm not sure what will happen, we're hearing different things," said Tony Sarkis, whose 10-0 Reggies host the Lancers at Gleason Field tomorrow.

BILLERICA | On the sidelines before the last drive, Greater Lawrence star halfback Nate Adames could be heard telling his offense that the left side, just outside of the tackle, was there for the taking.

When Greater Lawrence Tech assistant Dan Thompson wants to make a point to the players, he just shows them his finger. That's the one that brandishes his 1998 Eastern Mass. Division 5 Super Bowl championship ring.

Greater Lawrence Tech was finding it hard to turn a wide-field position advantage into points against a hulking Greater Lowell squad. Halfback Nate Adames was a marked man once again, but this time he was held in check with only 80 yards. Major penalties took two Reggie touchdowns off the board and killed other two drives while an interception five yards from paydirt ended another march.

LYNN | The disruption in the school day, the unusual 3:45 p.m. start, the long bus trip to Lynn ... all were land mines that could have thrown unbeaten Greater Lawrence Tech off its game.

Nate Adames would have none of it. Leaping off the bus in full stride, Adames rolled up three long first-quarter TDs and the Reggies made it eight straight with ease, drilling previously perfect (5-0) Lynn Tech, 32-14.

North Shore Tech 200-pounder Cameron White turned the corner with nothing but little Jonathan Delossantos and some freshly-mowed Kentucky bluegrass between him and the end zone.

Plow over the 5-8, 150-pound Reggie and head to the promised land, right?

Undefeated Greater Lawrence Tech roughed up Mystic Valley High School 33-0 in a messy game punctuated by Reggies' penalties on both sides of the ball.

Greater Lawrence head coach Tony Sarkis was disappointed in his team's lack of discipline. "There were a lot of penalties. We've got to straighten those out."
