Jaymie Spears had a huge second half against Amesbury, scoring 21 of his 27 points after the break as the Royals knocked off the Indians, 74-48. Joe Esposito (12 points) and Mike Messman (14 points) also contributed with stellar efforts for the Royals, whose press was too much for Amesbury.

Not-so-sweet 16

Julio Colon had 16 points, but it wasn't enough as the Georgetown boys basketball team lost to Cathedral, 54-53. The Royals closed out the first half with an 18-14 lead, but Cathedral dropped a ridiculous 40 points in the second half to pull away. Go-to-guy Jaymie Spears (nine points on 2-for-19 shooting) had a buzzer-beating field goal attempt clank off the front of the rim to end the game. Georgetown struggled mightily from the free-throw line (16 of 31), and also missed seven easy layups.

Sophomore sensation lead Georgetown

Jaymie Spears inagurated Georgetown's season with a buzzer-beater to down Manchester-Essex, 51-49. The sophomore went the length of the court and hit a short jumper as time expired. Spears had 23 to lead the Royals and Julio Colon added 11.
