Making a strong run at the postseason, Central Catholic pounded Cambridge Rindge & Latin, 22-0, for its fifth straight victory. Brandon Lavoie got the offense going for the Raiders (6-7), winning 19 of 22 faceoffs. Andrew Ouellette made Lavoie's work count with four goals and four assists, giving the junior 10 goals over his last two games. Next up is a key matchup tomorrow with Division 1 Chelmsford.

North Reading boys lacrosse earned a win by forfeit after Cambridge did not arrive with enough players to field a team. 

Central Catholic's girls lacrosse team got goals from 11 different players in an 11-1 victory over Cambridge. In her varsity debut, freshman goalie Mary Faggo made three saves in the win.

Andover third baseman Alex Patti drove a line drive between shortstop and third base, scoring C.J. Leary in the top of the twelth inning to give the Golden Warriors a 1-0 win over Cambridge in 12 innings. Golden Warriors co-aces Shawn Carlson and John Farrell each tossed six innings, with Carlson picking up the win. 

Regina LaRose scored three goals and Ellen Colman and Bianca Sacco (two goals and one assist each) had three points apiece as Central Catholic topped Cambridge, 11-0. Liz Steele and Lisa Rand (two saves each) combined to blank the Gryphons.

LAWRENCE — Cambridge Rindge and Latin pushed Central Catholic to the limit, but the Raiders persevered and came away with the 68-59 win at home at the Memorial Gymnasium in the semifinals of the Div. 1 North state tournament.

Katie Zenevitch commanded the floor, leading Central Catholic with 17 points, 10 rebounds, six blocks, five steals and four assists to lift the Raiders to a 51-41 victory over Cambridge Rindge and Latin.

Methuen cashed in on a big 3-point night from Dan Loughlin (2 goals, 1 assist) to defeat struggling Cambridge, 4-0. Pat Fleming recorded a pair of helpers, and Brandon McDermott and Pat Lucey each scored a goal. Jonathan Borden made 21 saves to pick up his fourth win of the season.

Methuen downed Cambridge 70-67, but it got interesting along the way. With starters in foul trouble in the first half, junior varsity call-ups Rebecca Caterino, Heather Trepanier and Danielle Grenier controlled the tempo and limited damage when called upon. Freshman Becca Costa ran the point well in the waning minutes of the first half and ended up with 10 points. Rashidat Agboola was unstoppable, scoring 23 points and grabbing 13 boards, and Ashley LeBlanc added 16 points.

Rashidat Agboola led Methuen to a 49-39 win over Cambridge. Agboola had a double-double with 23 points and 13 rebounds.
