After former Danvers High coach Mike Stellato guided Chelsea to a 45-14 win over North Shore Tech last week, he proudly announced that Chelsea had won its first-ever freshman game the previous day, also against the Bulldogs. The fact that Chelsea has a freshman team is super important to Stellato. "We need it," said Stellato, who is as enthusiastic about coaching Chelsea as he was Danvers in the far more prestigious Northeastern Conference a year ago. "You have to have that base in order to build for the future."

Just a year ago, Stellato was coaching a few miles away at Danvers High and it was the realization of a dream for him to be in the Northeastern Conference. He was hoping to be there for a long time, but it ended up being just one season due to a job issue at Danvers.
