Andover's volleyball team had no trouble defeating Lexington, the same team that coach Jane Bergen used to coach and where she still coaches the boys. Maddy Repucci had 14 kills and three blocks for the Warriors (20-1) who host the winner of Malden/Chelmsford Thursday night.

Conwell comes through

With about 10 minutes left Casey Conwell broke a 1-1 overtime tie, giving North Andover the dramatic 2-1 win in the Division 1 North tourney over Lexington. Catherine Knuepher also scored for the Knights, who host Westford Saturday in the quarters.

Warriors earn shot at Lawrence

Andover made easy work in three straight games over Lexington in the North sectional volleyball quarterfinals yesterday.
For the effort, the Warriors earned another shot at rival Lawrence, Tuesday night at the Lancers in the North semis. Alec Dean served 15 points and smacked 16 kills in the Warrior victory.

After Andover shut out Lexington last night and North Andover took care of Masconomet by the same 3-0 score, the two local rivals will square off for round three in the Division 1 semifinals. North Andover beat Andover in its season opener, but the Warriors have won 21 straight since and defeated the Knights (also 21-1) in a rematch.

Second-half surge

Once Kylie Regan scored in the second half, Central Catholic's offense soared to a 6-1 girls soccer tourney victory over 19th seed Lexington.

"We were dominating the entire game but our early shots were all going over the net," said Central head coach Casey Grange as her squad trailed 1-0 at halftime. "Once Kylie got us on the board, the floodgates opened."
