Hard-luck Sachems ousted

Stoneham beat Pentucket in double-overtime, 3-2, on a goal by Zach Daly off a corner kick.

"We hit the crossbar in the first overtime," lamented coach Christian Langlois. "We had a ton of chances. We played some of the best soccer we played all season but the ball just wouldn't come in and their keeper came up with some big saves."

North Reading wins 19th

Defending CAL champ North Reading closed the season out on a high note with a 25-15, 25-7, 25-14 victory over Stoneham. Lauren Mozzone led the way with seven kills and two blocks. Alison Friberg added 15 assists, and Kirsten Morrison had 14 service points with seven aces.

Amesbury reaches first sectional final since 2005 with victory over Stoneham

The Ghost of Amesbury Past arrived at Martin Field yesterday and dominated a thought-to-be-superior state tournament foe.

The Indians performance was vintage 2005 when they last advanced to the EMass. Division 2 North final at the end of the Ashley Waters era.

Danvers takes care of business in OT

Danvers girls soccer coach Jimmy Hinchion knew his team was prepared for penalty kicks. He also knew the Falcons wanted to make sure the game wasn't decided by them.

Ashley Sullivan scored an unassisted goal six minutes into the first sudden death overtime period to lift Danvers to a 1-0 victory over Stoneham in the first round of the Division 2 North tournament.
